GeneSifter® Analysis Edition:
Small RNA Analysis using Next Generation Sequencing

In recent years non-coding small RNAs, such as microRNAs (miRNA), and small interfering RNAs (siRNA), have been increasingly recognized as a significant regulatory factor in many biological processes. These short 20-30 nucleotide sequences bind to their targets and either inhibit translation or trigger destruction of their mRNA targets.

Intuitive Reports

Alignment statistics:

  • Number of reads uniquely mapped to each reference.
  • Known small RNAs
  • Novel small RNAs
  • Full accounting of all reads including the number of mismatches for mapped reads .

Known small RNA list:

  • Expression values for each identified small RNA.
  • Total number of reads.
  • Normalized counts: Reads per Million (RPM).
  • Thumbnail of read coverage over small RNA, which is live-linked to an integrated viewer.
  • Live-links to miRBase for more information including target prediction.

Novel small RNA list:

  • Expression values for each identified potentially novel small RNA.
  • Total number of reads.
  • Normalized counts: Reads per Million (RPM).
  • Thumbnail of read cluster, that is live-linked to an integrated viewer allowing visualization of reads in genome space (shows genes, transcripts, and base variants present around the potentially novel small RNA).

Filter List:

  • Expression values for filtered references.
  • Total number of reads.
  • Normalized counts: Reads per Million (RPM).
  • Thumbnail map of read coverage live-lined to integrated viewer.
